Since the launch of the first LEED Rating System, sustainable design has evolved from a trendy concept to a fundamental approach in how we build, maintain, and operate buildings. LEED Version 4 represents the latest advancements in this evolution, incorporating more rigorous standards and practices for sustainability.

The goal of sustainable development is to foster healthy environments through responsible planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings. At the core of this movement is the USGBC's LEED Green Building Rating System, which provides a framework for achieving these goals. This course focuses specifically on LEED for Operations and Maintenance, addressing the ongoing requirements for managing and maintaining existing commercial and institutional buildings.

Participants will learn how to apply LEED principles to enhance the sustainability of their operations, ensuring that buildings continue to meet high standards of environmental performance throughout their lifecycle.

• Discuss the origins of the LEED Existing Building: Operations and Maintenance within the USGBC LEED Green Building Rating System.
• Differentiate between LEED Credit Rating Systems.
• Recognize the importance of meeting prerequisites for LEED Operations and Maintenance (LEED OM) categories.
• Identify criteria to best achieve LEED OM credit rating goals.
• Explain the intent and requirements of LEED OM credit categories.
• Describe strategies for achieving exemplary performance where applicable.
  Identify synergies between strategies to optimize building performance.
